Tips to Clean Cloth Shoes

Cloth shoes are covered with dirty, mud and stains after a while wearing, which can’t be avoidable, resulting in a hard work of cleaning. Also, there are numerous tips on cleaning shoes, but each tip may not work for all types of clothing material, here is a collection of tips for certain type of cloth.

White Canvas Shoes

White shoes are really cute to put on your feet, especially this color is easy to match with any outfits. However, it also becomes your hard struggle with the cleaning task when they are easily getting soiled and stained, moreover, no matter how much you clean them, they sometimes still remains some stains, streaks or light blue tinge after having dried.

Using Baking Soda and Vinegar

You need – Baking soda, white vinegar, detergent, water and tootbrush.

Ways of Doing –

Step 1 – Mix baking soda with white vinegar.

Step 2 – Use your dry tootbrush to gently remove the dirt particles on the shoes, and then dampen your shoes.

Step 3 – Apply the mixture of baking soda and vinegar to the soiled areas, and then gently scrub with your brush.

Step 4 – Mix the detergent with water. Warm water is better than cold water, and then apply this mixture to the shoes to form a lather, repeat the step 3 with your brush.

Step 5 – Rinse with water the remove the soap. You can apply the mixture of detergent again in case the shoes still remains stains, scrub and rinse well with water again to get your better result.

Step 6 – Place the shoes on the corner to let it dry naturally.

Using Tootpaste

You need – tootpaste, detergent or soap, tootbrush, water.

Ways of Doing

Step 1 – Remove the laces, and let it cleaned seperately.

Step 2 – Wipe out any dirt particles on the shoes, then wet the shoes with cold water.

Step 3 – Mix detergent with luke-warm water, dip your tootbrush in the mixture, then scrub entire the shoes including the uppers, the sides, and the soles, and scrub them stronger in circular movements on which are heavily soiled.

Step 4 – Rinse well with cold water to remove the excess foam residues.

Step 5 – It’s time for take back the white color by putting tootpaste where still remains the stains, scrub them with your brush in circular movements, then rinse thoroughly with cold water again.

Step 6 – Place them outside to air-dry, sun-light dry is better.

Satin Shoes

Satin material often gives glossy surface for the shoes, but it isn’t as thick as other cloth shoes. For these features of satin, cleaning the shoes needs to be done with more careful care than for other types.

And also, bear in mind that it would be better to have them cleaned before they are getting too dirty because scrubbing with a brush doesn’t seem to be a great choice unless you are ready to get a new pair from a shop, but using a brush to scrub for the soles is ok.

You need – Mild soap, warm water, cold water, a piece of cloth.

Ways of Doing

Step 1 – Gently wipe the shoes to remove any dirt particles and dust.

Step 2 – Mix the soap with warm water, dip the cloth in the mixture, and then dampen the shoes.

Step 3 – Use the dampened cloth to rub the visible stains on the shoes with circular motions, but put more soap on the soiled areas, rub against with dampened cloth to form a lather, until the stains are removed.

Step 4 – Rinse well with water to remove any excess foam residue, pat the shoes with dry towel, and then vertically put them on dry place for a complete dryness.
